More about CAT:

The CAT (Common Admission Test) exam is a computer-based test conducted annually in India by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission to various management programs offered by these institutes. CAT is one of the most competitive entrance exams in India and is taken by thousands of aspiring management students every year.

1. Purpose: The CAT exam is primarily used for admission to postgraduate management programs such as MBA (Master of Business Administration) offered by the IIMs and several other management institutes across India.

2. Exam Format: CAT is a computer-based test (CBT) comprising multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and non-MCQs. The sections typically include Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The exam duration is usually 3 hours, with each section timed separately.

3. Eligibility: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). Final year undergraduate students can also apply.

4. Scoring and Results: CAT scores are used by participating institutes for shortlisting candidates for the next stage of the selection process, which may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI). The results are typically announced in January.

5. Preparation: Preparation for the CAT exam requires rigorous study and practice. Candidates often use a variety of study materials, coaching classes, mock tests, and online resources to prepare effectively.

6. Competition: CAT is highly competitive, with a large number of candidates vying for a limited number of seats in top management institutes. As a result, securing a high percentile is crucial for admission to premier institutes.

7. Participating Institutes: CAT scores are accepted by all the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and numerous other prestigious management institutes across India, including Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi (Department of Management Studies), and many more.
